3 Things To Do Before Buying New Clothes

Go through your current clothes

This is often the first thing I do before buying new clothes for several reasons.

1) To see what I can donate because it doesn't fit me anymore, or simply I just need to make the space for new clothes.

2) To see what pieces I'm missing, or just to get a better idea of what I'm looking for when I go shopping.

3) Refreshing my brain on what I have already helps me imagine it later when I see something in the store or online. If I can picture it going with something else I own, then I'm buying it!

Whatever size you're currently in, decide if you want to stay there.

I say this because our bodies (as women) tend to change a lot. Especially when life happens, I.e. pregnancy, job change, family stress, emotional challenges, etc... I even had an injury that kept me out of the gym for quite some time, I just started going back about 3 months ago. So I'm a little heavier than normal, and because of that I won't spend tons of money on a size I know I'm not going to be at for long. I save that for when I get down to a more comfortable size, then I splurge on clothes.

Now it's time for the budget

Budgets are a great way to make sure you hit those financial goals you really want to hit! Look at what has to be paid, then your savings, then with what's left, you decide how much of that you want to spend on clothes. There was a time I only had enough money to buy 1-2 new pieces of clothes a month. You don't have to revamp your whole wardrobe at once. Plus, new stuff is always coming and going anyway.
